Executive Coaching Process

Leadership is lifting a person's vision to high sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard,
the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.
-Peter Drucker

Where do executives turn for development and support in lifting their own vision to higher sights, their performance to a higher standard, and their personality beyond its normal limitations?

One to One’s executive coaching programs provide high-impact, confidential and fully individualized development for leaders. Our executive coach works with the leader to
identify where they are, where they want to be, and what they can do to get there.

Executives seek us out for coaching on a wide variety of topics, such as leading
through change, achieving work-life balance, transforming team dynamics, contributing effectively as part of a senior leadership team, or achieving a specific professional goal.
While all solutions are fully customized to the needs and goals of the individual leader, the general process has steps in common with any development solution. We begin by gaining an understanding of the individual, their role, and the unique context in which they work. Next we begin the collaborative coaching process by identifying specific goals and how to evaluate progress towards them. Finally, we identify and implement solutions, provide ongoing support, and measure progress towards goals and milestones.

One to One Executive Coaching Process

Information Gathering/Assessment Phase

An initial face to face meeting (approximately 2 hours) will begin the relationship that is critical to the desire to change behavior as well as the actual change itself. During this first meeting, historical information will be gathered, as the client will have an opportunity to describe his perspective of his current work environment. We will discuss what feedback he has been given and ensure that he understands the impact of his present behavior and the need to change. Roles will be clarified and agreed upon, and future meeting and phone sessions will be scheduled. Selected peers, clients, former prospects, boss and any direct reports will be identified and contacted to gather “live 360” data. In addition, we will select an assessment (likely DiSC Plus or the Leadership Effectiveness Analysis 360 to administer. Upon completion of the assessment, a second phone or face-to-face meeting (approximately 2+ hours) will be arranged to discuss the results.

Goal Setting and Action-Planning

We will schedule a meeting (approximately 3 hours) to lay out behavior-based goals, and an action plan with concrete steps to advance the client in the direction of the goals. The information we gather during the initial phase challenge us to fine-tune certain existing goals, add new ones and discard others. We then spend some time trying to pinpoint what type of “message” (think brand image) the client would like to communicate to others at work and in the marketplace. .

Ongoing Development and Support

Semi-monthly phone sessions (approximately 1 hour) will be conducted to address ongoing concerns and issues, ensure the client is completing action items and is moving toward goals. Additional phone sessions may occur at any time at the client’s discretion. Many clients use this time to discuss recent or upcoming difficult interpersonal interactions – sometimes an objective look at a situation can help interpret someone’s reaction or help anticipate another’s response. In addition, we use this time to evaluate and help the client make sound decisions consistent with your overall goals.

Evaluation/Executive Summary

An Executive Summary of the progress and accomplishments will be provided to complete the process.

One to One’s executive coaching delivers powerful results for individual leaders, their teams and their organizations.
